MESSING WITH THE BAD GULLS

It’s damnably difficult it is to identify seagulls, what with common gulls and herring gulls and great and lesser black backed gulls, kittiwakes, black headed gulls (which also sometimes don’t have black heads), napoleons’ gulls, mussolinis’ gulls, hitlers gulls. And then they all look different depending on the month of the year or the day of the week, if they are gulls or boys or if they’re teenagers and dye their hair.. and thats not mentioning gannets or skuas or terns! Its one of the reason the oystercatcher is one of my favourite birds. You know where you are with an oystercatcher.
